Terms and Conditions


Impulse Driving School Driving School is the trading name of Impulse Private Limited and shall be referred to throughout these terms of business as “Impulse Driving School”. Any customer will be referred to throughout these terms of business as “student”. Any franchised driving instructor will be referred to throughout these terms of business as “driving instructor”.

Impulse Driving School is the third party who engages directly with individual franchised driving instructors. All our driving instructors operate on self-employment basis and act in their capacity as franchisees of Impulse Driving School under the terms of a franchise agreement between Impulse Driving School and the instructor. The contract for driving tuition is solely between the student and the instructor.

Any bookings made through Impulse Driving School, payments taken, or information supplied through Impulse Driving School is in the sole capacity of an agent between the student and instructor.

Please note all Impulse Driving School instructors are self-employed and operate under a franchise model with Impulse Driving School. Once a booking has been made, the sole contact for that booking will be the instructor and not Impulse Driving School.

  1. Payments for all courses apart from standard pay as you go are non-refundable. In exceptional circumstances (and at the instructor’s discretion) any refunds that are to be made should be directly arranged with the instructor, not Impulse Driving School.
  2. Impulse Driving School is not responsible for any payments made to the driving instructor.
  3. Impulse Driving School accepts no responsibilities for any fees paid directly to your Impulse Driving School Franchised Instructor.
  4. Where payments are made direct to the instructor, Impulse Driving School is not responsible for any acts, default or failure on the part of the instructor should they not carry out their obligations.
  5. Cancellations or changes should be made directly with the instructor 48 hours prior to the arranged lesson time. Any lessons cancelled after the 48-hour window has begun will be charged at the standard rate of driving lessons.
  6. Impulse Driving School Driving instructor will allow a 15-minute waiting window upon arrival at the students allocated pick up address. The Impulse Driving School Driving instructor will notify the student that they have arrived, should the student fail to reply to arrive at the vehicle, the lesson will be cancelled and charged at the standard rate of driving lessons.
  7. The following condition applies to all courses: all packages have a validity of six months from the point of being assigned an instructor. Should the student fail to complete their hours within this time frame without prior agreement with their instructor, their package will become void and the remaining hours will be invalidated.
  8. In specific respect of the Beginner Special Course, all students must take 2 hours per week, failure to book lessons for a period of 2 months will result in the remaining hours being void and the package being cancelled
  9. The student will take primary responsibility for making contact with the instructor to book lessons on a regular basis.
  10. The option to change instructor will become void once 4 hours has been completed of the package purchased.
  11. The student will allow their instructors a 15-minute grace period either side of the booked lesson time to allow travel time from their previous customer. Impulse Driving School is not responsible for lessons cancelled due to mechanical breakdown. The instructor reserves the right to rearrange driving lessons to a time convenient to both parties should the requirement arise.
  12. Test bookings must be made with the knowledge and consent of the driving instructor. Impulse Driving School reserves the right to withdraw hire cars for practical driving tests without notice should the instructor consider that the student is not prepared to test standard.
  13. Any issues arising between the driving instructor and student will be mediated through Impulse Driving School, Impulse Driving School will aim to provide a response within 14 working days. All complaints must be made in writing via email to the contact address on the Impulse Driving School website.
  14. Neither Impulse Driving School nor the driving instructor can be held responsible for driving tests postponed or cancelled by the DVSA, please contact DVSA directly for complaints or escalations. No refunds will be given for fast-track practical driving test bookings which are cancelled by the DVSA.
  15. Impulse Driving School operates and adheres to an equal opportunities policy, meaning that Impulse Driving School and driving instructors associated with it will not discriminate against race, colour, creed, gender, or sexual orientation.
  16. Impulse Driving School driving school will make provision for all its students a dual controlled car in a clean and road worthy condition.
  17. Impulse Driving School Driving School operates a strict no smoking policy in all its vehicles.
  18. Impulse Driving School reserves the right to refuse service and can terminate a driving lesson should the driver be under the influence of alcohol or narcotics.
  19. All Impulse Driving School driving instructors have the right to work without being subject to any form of abuse, be it mental, physical, verbal or otherwise. Any student illustrating this form of behaviour will automatically be disbanded from Impulse Driving School and any package purchased will be void, with no right for a refund.

Terms and Conditions for beginner learner drivers

As per the UK government guidelines, in order to pursue driving lessons, you must have the following:

  • Be aged 17 or older (16 or over if disabled)
  • Hold a provisional driving licence that is valid for the UK (provisional, full or an appropriate foreign licence)

It is the responsibility of the student to provide their driving instructor will a valid provisional driving licence prior to the commencement of the first driving lesson. Failure to provide this will give the driving instructor the right to refuse service and the student will be charge the standard driving lesson rate.


Payments to Impulse Driving School can be made in advance to the company bank account, please contact the call centre for these details.

** Any course cancelled before starting lessons will incur a £30 admin fee.

Payments to driving instructors

  1. Please contact the driving instructor directly to confirm which forms of payment they accept. Impulse Driving School is not liable for any payments made between the driving instructor and the student.
  2. Any payments to Impulse Driving School must be off set against lessons within 6 months of the date of the original payment. All students acknowledge that once 6 months has elapsed after the original payment has been made, there will be no right to a refund and no further lessons can be booked against those funds.
  3. All payments must be made to Impulse Driving School through either BACS transfer, PayPal, through our website, Apply Pay and Google Pay. No other payment method not listed in these terms and conditions will be supported. All primary bookings by new students must be paid directly to Impulse Driving School through one of the above-mentioned methods. Should a student pay the instructor directly for their first booking, note that that student will not be considered to be associated with Impulse Driving School. Impulse Driving School will not take payment for any form of driving lessons through any other website apart from its own or through any social media platforms. Should there be any doubt regarding the authenticity of any offer from any third-party website or social media platform claiming to be Impulse Driving School, please call Impulse Driving School first on 0161 492 0547.  Impulse Driving School will not be held liable for payments made to third parties who transpire to be taking part in any form of fraud or scam by companies claiming to be Impulse Driving School.

Driving Lessons

  1. Impulse Driving School makes no guarantee that the driving instructor will be made available when a student requested a driving lesson. It is the sole responsibility of the driving instructor and student to mutually agree the date, time, location and duration of driving lessons.
  2. It is the responsibility of the student to inform their driving instructor of any change in circumstances that may affect their entitlement or ability to take driving lessons, such as the loss of a valid provisional driving licence or any medical conditions.
    Any quotation for driving lessons by Impulse Driving School are post code specific, should a student choose to be collected from a different post code there may be a difference in the price compared to the original post code. Should such a predicament arise after a student begins their driving lessons, the cost for the total number of remaining hours will be adjusted to reflect the change in post code.
  3. The pricing structure for driving lessons and courses are subject to change in line with operational costs. Should such a predicament arise, current bookings which have been paid for in full will be honoured and completed at the historic rate, once the paid for package is completed, the new rate will be applied to any further bookings. Where no payment has been made, historic prices will not be honoured.

Transfer of Driving Lessons

  1. Driving lessons which have been purchased cannot be transferred or sold to anyone other than the student they were originally purchased for. The only exception to this is where driving lessons have been gifted to another named student, this needs to be clarified at the point of booking.

Introductory Offers – Beginner Special Course

  • Any introductory course such as the Beginner Special Course is only for those students who have no previous driving experience, this is regardless of whether that driving experience already attained is from within the UK or outside of the UK. Only one introductory offer may be purchased per student.
  • Impulse Driving School may discontinue or amend any introductory offers at any time, current introductory offer details can be found on the website.

Last-minute driving test bookings
A last-minute driving test booking is any test booking that takes place within 4 weeks or less from the date of the first planned driving lesson to the date of the driving test. All students must adhere to the below terms and conditions prior to booking a last-minute driving test:

  1. Any booking for a last-minute test package consists of 6 hours’ of instructor and tuition vehicle time, this also includes 2 hours for the day of the driving test.
  2. The first 2 hours of this package will involve an assessment during which the driving instructor will review the current knowledge base of their student and decide whether they are test ready. Subsequent to the first 2 hours, should the driving instructor deem the student to not be test ready, the instructor will not be able to take the student to the driving test.
  3. Should the driving instructor decide that further driving lessons are required, it will be the sole responsibility of the student to ensure that they make themselves available at short notice for driving lessons in the run up to a last-minute driving test as per the driving instructor’s availability. Should a student fail to make themselves available for the hours required as assessed by the driving instructor in the run up to a last-minuet driving test, the instructor will not be able to fulfil the service of taking the student to the driving test.
  4. Payment for 6 hours of driving lessons will be required prior to taking the first lesson which will be non-refundable if the driving instructor deems the student to not be test-ready. Should such a predicament arise, the balance of the funds may be utilised for further driving lessons.
  5. A cooling off period of 24 hours will apply for all last-minute test bookings, within this time a student may change their mind and cancel the booking. This is on the condition that the last-minute test booking day is more than 5 working days away. Once this window has elapsed the standard refund and cancellation terms and conditions will apply.


Your instructor and/or Impulse Driving School shall not, under any circumstances, be liable for losses relating to any business interests relating to any student including but not limited to, lost profits, loss of opportunity or business or business interruption.

Your statutory rights are not affects as part of these terms and conditions.

Use of personal information
Any information supplied by a student to Impulse Driving School may be used for any of the following purposes, unless a student expressly does not give permission to do so:

  1. Verify or identify a student;
  2. Make direct contact with a student to discuss accounts, services or provision of products;
  3. Debt recovery, fraud prevention, to manage accounts or insurance policies; to verify a student’s identity for the purpose of prevention of money laundering unless the student provides an alternative satisfactory proof of identity;
  4. Carry out marketing analysis and customer profiling (including but not limited to transactional information) to create statistical data analysis reports;
  5. Identify services and/or products which may be of interest to a student based on their previous queries.
  6. Contact a student through e-mail, phone, face to face visit, SMS, MMS, social media or WhatsApp message) regarding products and services offered by Impulse Driving School and selected trusted partners.
  7. Provide information that has been requested by legal or regulatory bodies or where we are required to provide information as part of legal proceedings or to prove compliance.
  8. We may monitor and record communications with all students (including phone conversations, e-mails SMS, MMS, social media and WhatsApp) for the purpose of quality assurance, legal, compliance and training.
  9. Supply a student’s details to fraud and crime prevention agencies. Provision of false or inaccurate information or where there is reason to believe that fraud is taking place, a record will be made of this and the information may be passed on fraud and crime prevention agencies and other relevant authorities including the police.
  10. Allow our selected trusted partners to contact a student regarding products and services offered by them, unless consent is expressly refused by the student in writing via e-mail.

Terms and Conditions Practical test bookings

Students must ensure they are familiar with the following terms and conditions relating to the service being purchased or already purchased as per the below;

  1. Securing of a practical driving test booking can take up to 8 weeks through a number of trusted third-party companies.
  2. A trusted third-party company will book the first available test they have in Manchester, hence full flexibility is required. Any dates that a student might not be available to take the practical driving test must be communicated to the driving instructor prior to the request for a practical test booking. Should a student fail to notify their driving instructor of their availability and they subsequently cannot attend a driving test date that has been already booked, it will become the sole responsibility of the student to re-arrange their practical driving test date through the DVSA.
  3. Payments for practical test bookings are non-refundable under all circumstances.
    Practical test bookings will be available at one of the major driving test centres in Manchester, including Cheetham Hill, Chadderton, West Didsbury, Sale, Bury and Bredbury. Any request to find a driving test date at a specific driving test centre must be communicated to the driving instructor at the point of requesting the practical driving test date.
  4. Once a practical driving test booking is complete, students will receive a screenshot of the booking which can be viewed in full, though logging in on the DVSA website.
  5. To cost of the service of booking a practical driving test will only include the practical test booking, the test day fee and the fee for hiring an Impulse Driving School vehicle remain separate. Should a student require an Impulse Driving School vehicle for their driving test, they will need to arrange booking and payment directly with their driving instructor.
